According to Dr. Parmar, the strongest reason for you to cry is to decrease stress levels and emotional turmoil.
Apart from that, crying is the best way to vent emotions, and give you a sense of relief.
"However," says Dr. Parmar, "another important reason why women cry is to gain attention."
Dipannita felt really proud herself when she cried and got her way. "I knew I made a man and that too, a cop, very uncomfortable. It was a different high."
But, remember feeling like this will only lead you to conclude that crying is the best way to get anything and you will be resorting to it all the time and get into a fake crying mode like Farah did.
Just Can't Cry!
But what if you belong to the "other side of the coin/fence"? Martina Patra, a Web developer, just cannot understand why she cannot be like other women. "I really feel like crying sometimes, honestly, but the tears just DON'T come. I think the only time cried was when I didn't get through my medical entrance exams. Then I really, really cried, and after that I have not cried at all … ever," she says.
"I think I was meant to be a guy, but then suddenly I became a girl," she smiles.
According to Dr. Parmar, the levels of crying depend on personality traits, it is quite difficult to figure out how much a person should cry really.
However, he strongly advises against:
- Crying to fake an illness.
- Crying to manipulate someone's behaviour.
- Crying to gain sympathy.
This is what is called an immaturity defence. If talking and discussing the matter is not working out for you, you cry to gain an upper hand.
Remember, crying is good! Crying is a woman's way to vent, and so, is the best way to feel relieved. So, while crying is good for you, just make sure you don't overdo it, or fake it.
