Remember, you don't always need to have special training as an RJ from any institute. If you can talk to listeners and get them hooked, you've got the job!
Work Includes
Your job profile will include making the script for your shows and selecting a playlist that fits your script. You have to select the songs depending on it's popularity, your listeners choice and the time your show will go live.
Being an RJ, you will have to host your show and interact with the listeners during the show via phone, SMS or email.
If you are recording a show you will have to record a voice-over too as and when required by the radio station.
Different from Full-Time
When you work in a private radio station, it is a like a permanent 9-5 job and you have to complete your daily working hours and targets apart from hosting your show.
Similar to other media jobs you will have a monthly salary, including targets for each month.
Along with a graduation degree or a BMM (Bachelors in Mass Media) you need to have an official training at a private radio station.
Qualification Required
The minimum qualification required for a radio jockeying whether part-time or full-time is a graduation degree.
You must have a good command over the language, depending on the language used by your radio station or your show.
You will also have to go through an audition before you get the job. To clear that you should sound good over the microphone, be confident and clear in what you say.
And lastly make sure you have a good knowledge of music. When a listener says she wants Red Hot Chilli Peppers, you don't want to say that you don't sell vegetables.
