Moolah Matters
Radio jockeys are paid on contract basis. As far as AIR is concerned, it is a non-profit government station. The remuneration is not comparable to the private stations.
However, you can earn anywhere between Rs.4000 to Rs.50,000 at a private station for a part-time engagement depending on the hours your spend and how good you are!
When we say how good you are, it means how many listeners you can get.
Even if you are working on a contract basis, you will get money according to the hours you put in. So to make more money you have to work that many extra hours. But this just may not give you enough time for your full-time job, so you need to make that decision wisely.
Casual Announcers
You can also get freelance as a casual announcer at AIR (All India Radio). The advantage of the job is that you get to decide your work timings.
But on the downside you don't get paid as much as a freelance radio jockey. Casual announcers get paid according to the show. They get around Rs.250 to Rs.300 per show.
So if you think you can talk for hours and share good music, why don't you think of taking up radio jockey as a freelance job?
