Food: Menu and food layout, mocktails, cocktails and other drinks, bar tenders and servers.
Décor: Location or venue depending on the occasion, licenses and permits required, seating arrangement, floral decorations and other accessories.
Rentals: Invitations and printing, photography, security, valet, cleaning services and transportation.
Remuneration
What you earn in any given party project depends on the budget of the party as specified by the host since most party planners usually have a fixed percentage cut from the entire cost of the party. You can expect to get 12 - 15% approx. of the entire cost of the party.
Quick Tips
Information about party etiquette would be an advantage.
If you have hands on experience in organising parties, you could present samples/ CD's or PowerPoint presentations on themes, venues, contract agreements, invoice, thank you notes etc to the client.
- Prepare a checklist of what party supplies to buy and which ones to rent.
- Write effective to-do lists and a party agenda.
- Calculate an accurate party budget and timeline required.
- Negotiate with the client before signing any agreements including getting a deposit before you start working.
