Getting StartedMost established tattoo artists have learnt and honed their skills from established artists abroad.
It is only now that people are breaking into the business through personal connections and networking.
However, setting up your own tattoo studio will require an initial investment of a minimum of Rs. 5 lakhs.
This would include the rent for your studio, equipment such as an autoclave, tattoo machine / gun, clip cord and power box (adaptor) and colouring material.
You need to have an Indian license as well and a health license too to ply your trade. These basically certify that you follow all standard health and safety practices.
Money Matters
Due to the nature of the work, the amount of money a tattoo artist makes is inconsistent. Body art is not for everyone. Depending on your location - preferably an urban environment - tattoo artists can make approximately Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 a month.
A career as a tattoo artist can be a fun and exciting career for those who have a creative bent of mind and love to interact with people.
