Informs Navin, "We look for responsible people who are punctual and organised. Many people come here to be part of a project either because they want pocket money or they are curious about how event management works. But we don't hire frivolous people."
- Energy: You are going to be tired by the end of the day.
- Enthusiasm: You need it when you get screamed at for stepping on a wire!
- Excitement: For when you find that "your show" was a grand success.
- Eloquence: Being a people person really helps!
Remuneration and Perks
As a student, you are likely to be paid on the lower side as most event management companies hire students as part of an academic tie-up.
If you are not a student, then depending on your experience, you can expect to earn anything between Rs.350 to Rs.1000 as a freelancer. This remuneration is on a per day basis and usually includes a travel allowance.
But hey, look at the bright side. As a backstage coordinator, you do get to rub shoulders with models, rock stars, film stars and the like. What more do you want?
Event management companies hire only very experienced people or professionals for high profile events like award shows, music concerts and fashion shows. If you have the experience, you could earn between Rs.6000 to Rs.20000 on assignment basis.
Naturally, your involvement will be much higher in terms of planning and execution.
