Pony skin, hides and composite leather are being used on a wide scale for carpets and rugs. The look that is really big both nationally and internationally is the "hide" look like crocodile and snakeskin.
For the classic and modern look, neutral shades are the way to go. The retro theme is also pretty dominant on the home décor scene. Rugs in colours like lime green and lavender with a combination of off-white and abstract prints is the way to go.
Ashutosh says you can expect to get rugs made from faux fur for about Rs.15,000 or so for a size of about 6ft. by 9ft. But a genuine leather carpet (including crocodile and snakeskin) could even go up to Rs.1,50,000.
