Frustrating isn't it? Well, before you decide to shut your business down, try giving your workspace a makeover.

Don't Mix Business and Pleasure
A room of about 70 to 100 sq. ft. would be perfect for a home office. But if an entire room is too much to spare then convert a part of your living room or even your bedroom into a work space.
Just make sure to separate your office area from the rest of the room. You could use attractive partitions like woven mats, beaded curtains and a whole lot more.
Wooden partitions are great too. They match any kind of decor and block out sound effectively. Just fill the space between the two sheets of ply with sound absorbent material like glass wool, fibreglass, rock wool or even mineral wool.
What's Your Style?
Depending on the kind of work you do, you could experiment with wall paint and accessories.
For a more sober setting, use neutral colours like off-whites, beiges and greys. Pastel colours also lend a pleasing look to a home office. If you want to spice up the decor a bit then try interesting wall accents. A painting, wall mural or even a textured wall would give your office just the right charm and sophistication it needs.
If you prefer a dash of vibrancy then use trendy colours like aqua blue, lime green, warm orange or even sunny yellow for a focus wall.
Give your office a formal look with plush woollen carpeting or a comfy touch with coir or jute carpeting. If you prefer wooden flooring, then use sound insulating material between the strips of wood and the floor to prevent being disturbed by the sound of foot traffic.
Unseen Essentials
Before you pick out a fancy desk for that sleek PC make sure you have all the electrical work in place. You don't want to break down your freshly painted walls. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of extra plug points and switches.
Ditch the large electrical boxes for some sleek flat plate switches. Also ensure that all electrical plug points and light switches are fitted at desk level.
General lighting is a must for the room. You could choose either spotlights or recessed lighting with the help of a suspended ceiling.
Remember to have separate task lighting (light on the work area, not the person) for your workstation area. White fluorescent lighting is the best bet. It is bright but at the same time is glare free. It also involves less consumption.
A one tonne air-conditioner would be more than sufficient to cool the room. Opt for split air-conditioning rather than a window air-conditioner. Allow maximum natural light can enter the room.
Decorate your windows with attractive wooden or aluminium blinds. They are easy to maintain and don't collect dust like drapes do. Moreover, you can adjust the amount of light that enters your office.
