Vag Shantharam Shenai from the Green Cross Society gives you simple tips on how to go green at home.
- Keep plants at home

Keeping plants at home will not only beautify your house but give you an added bonus of reducing pollution. Reason?
All plants reduce pollution by converting it into food/fuel/fibre. They even absorb inorganic pollution and thus, are very important.
- Old newspaper goes to the radiwalla
Get paid to conserve the environment! It is wise to offer old newspapers in good condition to recyclers to create opportunity for recycling and thus reduce the global carbon footprint. Its no hassle, since Raddiwallas do come home to collect old newspapers and remember, it is also eco-wise!
- Insert a biosanitizer
A new cutting edge solution called BIOSANITIZER has been innovated in INDIA by an I.I.T. Engineer named Dr. Uday Bhawalkar and this catalyst can be inserted into the cooking gas system to reduce pollution while increasing efficiency, and in the car fuel and oil tanks to drastically reduce CO, NOx and unburnt hydrocarbons while rewarding you with increased power and efficiency.
The biosanitizer 6.0 of 100 mg is available for Rs 4,000 at Green Cross Society, Jaiprakash (Versova) Road, Andheri West in Mumbai and Berry's in Pune.
Centre for Environmental Research and Education shows us how minor lifestyle changes can lead to conserving energy and avoiding pollution.
- Do not use thermocol
Thermocol may seem a good option for packaging or using disposable dishes but you may not be aware that thermocol causes more harm than good. Thermocol cannot be recycled, nor can it be decomposed.
It is better to switch to disposable plates made of patta (leaf) for serving purposes as they are easily decomposable.
- Do not use plastic at all
While plastic is recyclable, you have to note that it cannot be recycled more than four to five times. Hence it is best that you do not use plastic at all.
