We spoke to few celebrities about how they go all out during Diwali. They also tell you how they lose the festival weight and stay fighting fit.
A Model Celebration
Pia Trivedi is jetting off to Goa for a good ol celebration with her sister and her friends.
The Celebration
Pia simply loves Indian food. "I don't like Indian sweets very much but I can go all out on ice creams. So this year I am going to indulge in the good old Indian food and tons of ice cream. This without any guilt," says Pia.
Pia believes that when you indulge, you might as well indulge well and then discipline yourself later. Festival time is a time of celebrations and indulgence anyway she believes.
The After Festival Exercise
"I make sure that I workout whenever my schedule and time permits me to. If I know I will be gymming regularly, then I make sure that I do 30 minutes of cardio and weight training. I have taken to skipping recently," she says.
Pia's schedule is haywire this month and she cannot make sure of gymming regularly. This is where her skipping rope comes to her rescue.
She also carries that skipping rope out to her shoots and skips whenever she can.
Skipping exercises her whole body and strengthens her leg muscles too.
Kahin Kissi Diwali
Gauri Tonk made quite a splash on Nach Baliye 2 and she plans to make an even bigger splash this Diwali.
The Celebration
"I am going all out this Diwali. My whole family including myself loves sweets. So I will be making laddoos, karanjee, chakli, poha chevda, and besan laddoos among a lot of other things. I make sure that I make all this at home. Nothing like homemade delicacies," says Gauri.
The whole family has a tradition of sitting down on Diwali morning and eating the Diwali sweets from a huge thali. Since it is a family affair, it is impossible to even think of controlling one's urges.
The After Festival Exercise
"I will do a mix of cardio and weights. I usually lift between 5 kgs - 7 kgs weights," says Gauri.
Besides that she also has a walker at home, just in case she cannot make it to the gym.
"Having a walker at home really works, because I can work out at anytime," she says.
She walks a lot too because it is another effective exercise. "It tones the lower body and keeps my hips and legs toned," says Gauri.
She believes that a woman should look like a woman and not a stick.
Gauri says, "I stay as fit as I can before the festival, go all out on the festival and then get back to shape by working out."
Gauri also says she is not a diet person at all. In fact she loves her junk food. However she makes sure that she eats it in moderation. She says that it is very important for each one to understand their body.
"If you feel like gymming works for you, do it. If a scaled down diet works then do that. Remember, you should do what is best for your body and not what the newest 'in' thing is," she concludes.
The idea is to eat healthy which simply means eat well and exercise accordingly.
