WANT to rejuventate, revivify? Well, first detoxify!
Help me empty out this house
The wool I've gathered all these days
And thought I couldn't do without
And throw it all away…
These are actually lyrics to a sensitive song by Toad the Wet Sprocket. But Glen Philips could just as well be penning down an ode to that essential rejuvenating ritual: detoxification!
Do you detox? And why you should
Every morning, you scrub the bacteria off your mouth. And every month, you bundle up your newspapers and sell them off to the scrap-dealer. Every Diwali, you give your home a fresh coat of paint. But hey, do you detox? That is, do you, from time to time, cleanse out those insidious wastes sitting inside your intestines, blood vessels, kidneys, and your very heart?
You should.
Because every waking moment, you're gathering those wastes. Just by your normal, everyday actions. Eating, drinking, washing clothes, bathing, commuting, working. A small sampling:
- Coffee
- Smoke
- Dust
- Laundry and dish detergents
- Chemicals in toiletries and make-up
- Aerosol
- Food additives and preservatives
- Kitchen fumes
See how clogged up you are? Now you know why your eyes are lined with circles, your face with wrinkles, your hair hanging limp like boiled noodles? And yes, your mood's been swinging wilder than the jhoolas on Basant Panchami, you can blame it on the terrible traffic-jam inside.
Good news! In fact, great news. You can start feeling better (and looking nicer) starting now. Just invest a litle time and money in a detox therapy. You'll be so glad you did.
