Heat Repellents
Cottons, needless to say, should be on the top of your priority list while packing for a wildlife safari. The fabric is perfect to fight the hot weather and is extremely comfortable.
Don't take the trouble of packing heavy denims. Go for pants and skirts made from shirt denim. It is much lighter and you won't feel hot too.
You can carry outfits made of georgette, net and silk for that evening dinner and dance do at your resort.
Jungle Style
Capri pants, cargos and shorts are three of the most comfortable types of pants you can carry to a safari. Team them with cotton vests and t-shirts.
This is the best time to flaunt your camouflage pants. But please don't team them with a camouflage shirt; it will make you look like a military girl!
A-line cotton dresses are another cool option. To make a style statement in the jungle, team them with boots.
Carry skirts only if you think you will be comfortable in them. Go for long flowing skirts rather than short, tight ones. Besides being comfortable, they will protect your legs from tanning.
Team your clothes with matching hats, bandanas and the latest sunglasses.
Friends with Nature
In a place where the animal kingdom rules, try not to disturb them by wearing flashy colours! Animals are attracted to bright colours, so you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and catch their attention.
Respect nature by wearing nature friendly colours such as shades of grey, brown and green. If these are too boring for you, go for colours like rust and burnt orange.
Also remember to carry white garments - whether shirts, t-shirts, shorts or dresses - as they are bliss in hot weather.
Think Skin
Extreme temperature needs extreme protection for your skin.
Don't forget basic skin care products such as face and body wash, lip balm, moisturiser and sunscreen. Make sure your sunscreen has minimum SPF 25, as sunscreens below that will be ineffective.
If you plan on wearing make-up, go for waterproof make-up, as you will perspire. Plus you can splash water on your face, without spoiling your make-up.
Love Your Feet
Make sure you wear a comfortable pair of shoes. Avoid heels completely!
If you are wearing open shoes, such as floaters, always use moisturiser and sunscreen on your feet. This will avoid dryness and cracked heels. To be on the safer side, wear closed boots, which are not only sturdy but also protect your feet from insect bites.
Health First
Before you head out for a honeymoon safari, try to remember if you are allergic to something. Even if you are not, ask your doctor to prescribe a medication that fights general allergy.
Make sure you carry a mosquito repellent, to stop malaria from ruining your honeymoon. Also carry a small first aid kit, in case of an emergency.
Keep distance from the animals and you are sure to enjoy your honeymoon in the wild. Lastly, this is definitely not the time to flaunt your animal prints!
