
A Good Start
The first step to setting up a new home is packing the stuff at your previous place the right way. If the packing is done properly, half your task is done.

The next thing is to ship the packed stuff to the new place. Make sure to hire a good packing and moving service even if you have to pay a little extra. They will take care of your belongings and make sure they are secure in the truck.
All Cleaned Up
If the new place you are moving to is not very clean, it would be advisable to get someone to clean it before you arrive, especially if you have kids.

Slow and Steady
Set up only one room of the house first. This way you will have to open only one or two boxes. Also don't worry too much if you can't set up an entire room at one go. Frankly, there is no particular room you need to set up first. Some people might prefer to set up the bedroom and be comfy while others feel the kitchen is more important. So you can take that call.

Running the Home
If you feel the need, you could even set up parts of different rooms. For instance, you can set up the basic items you need in the kitchen like the gas stove and the refrigerator, the beds in the bedroom etc.

Make sure everything is in proper working condition before you land up at the new place. Check the toilets, geysers etc. Make sure you have a gas cylinder if you intend to cook. Also don't forget about lights and fans too, especially if this is an old flat. Trust me, you don't need a candlelight dinner the very first night.

Be Friendly
Make sure to introduce yourself to at least one neighbour. This way you can be assured of a helping hand if you need anything urgently.
