You smile politely at the older relatives and roll your eyes at your friends. But all the while, you wonder when the right time for you to have a baby is.

"We knew each other well."
Anu Nadar, 24-year-old Housewife and mother of a one-year-old
I got pregnant with my daughter three months after I was married. It was a conscious decision. My husband was especially keen on having a baby soon after marriage.
We knew each other very well for a long time before that and so, unlike other newly weds, we didn't really need that initial time to get to know each other.
"It was a good time."
Rohini Cardoz, housewife and mother of a three-year-old
I had Ziv six years after I got married. I was 26 then and my husband Sean was 30. He said lets have a baby now, so by the time our kid is 20 years old, I'll retire. People around said that we must have a baby now as it was a good time. …and so we had a baby.
But on a serious note, I got married at the age of 21. After that, I did my MBA for two years and worked for four years. By then we moved to our own house, were financially better off and the situation was ideal. So we decided and 9 months later, there was Ziv!
"Be there for them when they have their kids."
Shanti Braganza, a retired school teacher and mother of five
There was no planning involved. I don't believe in planning. I got married at the age of 28 years and I had my first baby when I was almost 30. Some people believe that there could be complications but I didn't have any.
Looking back, I still think that having a baby after the age of 26 is ideal. By that time, you are more mature and more responsible to take care of your baby.
In the long run though, the one advantage of an early pregnancy is that you can be there for your kids when they have theirs. My mom was there for me when I had my first three kids. She was a big help.
