If you are scared of surgical tests like laparoscopy, you can go for a Hysterosalpingography (HSG) test which does not require a surgery.
However, it is important to know the pros and cons of this test before you go for it.
What Is HSG?
The HSG test is basically an X-ray of the uterus and fallopian tubes and involves the injection of dye through the cervix.
How Is It done?
In this test, a tube is inserted inside the cervix in which a dye is injected. This dye passes through the fallopian tubes.
As this dye passes through the uterus and fallopian tubes, pictures are taken using a steady beam of X-Ray.
Why Is It Done?
This test is usually done as a part of infertility examinations. It allows your doctor to examine the structure of the uterus and fallopian tubes, and to determine if there are any blockages, injuries or other abnormalities.
Taking the Test
Make sure you don't take the test if you have:
- Suspected active tuberculosis
- Genital tract infection
Remember, this test should be taken right after your menses get over in order to ensure that you are not pregnant.
