The success of IUI will depend upon the infertility problem and your overall health. If the only problem is that of your husband's inability to ejaculate, it's chances of success are high.
However, if it is the problem of poor and low sperm count, the chances will reduce.
If you are above 35 years of age, your chances of conceiving through this method is significantly reduced. This is due to low quality egg production.

Overall, you can take four treatment cycles. If you didn't conceive within these four cycles, the chances of IUI working for you is negligible.
However, on an average, infertility specialists assign only a 50% chance of conception through this method. You will have to undergo atleast two treatment cycles to conceive for sure.
The Cost Factor
The cost for IUI varies from clinic to clinic. Basically it costs anywhere between Rs. 3000 to Rs. 10,000.
However, if you were to be medicated for superovulation (that is producing extra eggs), the cost will spiral up to Rs. 30,000.
Is an IUI Risky?
A major risk associated with IUI is the chance of multiple pregnancies. This is especially true if you are going to be superovulated.

In this case, more than one egg can get fertilised. Since the doctor cannot control the ovulation process, the chance of it's happening is higher.
Apart from that, remember to do it only from a reputed clinic or a good hospital. Small time clinics may not be equipped with proper sterilised equipments. This could infact cause uterine infection and result in non-conception.
An IUI is a simple and effective form of conception. However, it requires correct timing and equal amount of cooperation from both you and your spouse.
