There are basically three hormonal tests which are associated with your reproductive ability. So if you are unable to conceive, your gynaecologist may suggest any of the three tests.

Here's a low down on them.
1. The LH Test
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) test is a hormone that is produced by your pituitary gland. This hormone is responsible in regulating your menstrual cycle and your egg production.
An LH test would:
- Evaluate whether you are ovulating
- Monitor your response to medicines for stimulating ovulation.
An LH test can be done in two ways - Blood and Urine test.
Preparing for the Test
If you have been advised this test, remember to avoid taking any medicine like contraception pills for up to 4 weeks prior to the test.
This is because the pills can affect the LH levels. Also if you happened to go for any X-ray test, remember to mention that to your doctor, as it can affect the test as well. Apart from that do not forget to mention the first day of your last period and also the flow pattern, as in if you have been spotting, or bleeding heavily or scantily.
The Test
If it is a blood test that you are undergoing, then you may have to undergo quite a few in number to get an accurate reading of your LH levels.
And if it is a urine test, remember to give a sample of your first urine in the morning.
