Tear Down those Walls
Really, if possible do just that. Replace a wall with a glass screen. Or simply immerse your walls in neutral shades like whites and beiges. This will give your living room a subdued, open feel.
To throw more light into the room try doing up an wall or panel with a simple wrought iron mirror, which gives you a a sense of space.
Now you don't want to leave those walls bare, do you? Bet you are thinking of loads of cool stuff to put on. But, this is minimalism we are talking about. So ditch the clutter and go with just one or two bold, must-have conversation starters like a stunning painting.
Bare or Basic
Wooden or marbonite floors are best left bare. Or, you can go with wall to wall carpeting in a neutral shade. Keep the colour constant between rooms, so it blends smoothly. Make sure the carpet isn't elaborate and has a simple print. You could also choose a neutral coloured linoleum. If you go with plain flooring, then you can break the monotony with a floor rug or two.
