The quantity of rice may be more than what you need in a month but you can cut down the rice money for the next month and save that amount for something else. If you usually go shopping during the first week of every month, as soon as you get your salary, here's something you could try out.
Go shopping in the last ten days of the month so that you can spend the least amount of money. Fix a particular date every month to plan the budget for the entire month.
While planning the budget, make sure you keep in mind the extra expenditure like birthdays and anniversaries for that month and allot money accordingly.

Seema Shinde, a homemaker says, "On first of every month, I create an expense sheet. In that I mention fixed expenses like the milkman's payment, electricity bill and so on. I also put a column on individual expenses like my travel expenses if any, my husband's expenses and my child's expenses if any."
