WORRIED about going to the shopping mall and fearing high prices due to inflation? Here's a surprise fact. Retail stores are here to save that money flowing out of your pocket.
Due to inflation going over 7.5 per cent last week, prices of many household products and grocery items have increased again. Retail stores taking advantage of the rising inflation are attracting consumers through various promotional schemes.

IndiWo visited some of the supermarkets to find out whether these offers really help or not.
We covered six retail outlets, focusing on different product and studied whether the inflation has had any impact on the food prices here.
Reliance Fresh in Andheri (West) offers many products, but they sell at market rates. They offer meagre discounts only on detergents and 1 litre tetra-pack fruit juice. Customers buying goods worth Rs 1000 receive a free gift (like a saucer) as a promotional offer for this month.
Compare it with your local kirana store, and there is not much difference because you save only up to Rs 2-3.
Subhiksha, however, offers discounts on almost all goods. Its tag line Bachat Mera Adhikaar keeps its promise; to deliver better value to Indian consumers.
It is also the first retail outlet in India to offer a 10 per cent discount on all medicines. A Korex cough syrup for Rs 59.60 in medical stored is sold for Rs 53.64 here, and you can buy a Combiflam at Rs 9 (while the actual price for 10 strips is Rs 10).
