Francina only laughed at her daughter-in-law. Elaine spoke to Pascal and told him that she could not deal with his mother that way. They decided that they would move out and were even willing to stay on rent if need be.

They found a place in a far-flung suburb (since that was all that they could afford) and moved in. Francine was taken aback at the decision and pleaded that they return home.

She was told that they would provided that Francine cut the cord. SO after a drastic move and a lot of pleading later Elaine and Pascal moved back in on the promise that Francine would not compete with Elaine anymore.

While the above may be drastic ways of dealing with your in-laws, remember that sometimes you have to start with a drastic step and move onto communication.

Nothing works better than communication but when you cannot get through to them then putting your foot down and taking drastic steps maybe your first but not your only option.
