
"I have mixed feelings about this," she says. "In general, we are not a forward looking society. While there are some liberal families, there are also the conventional and orthodox families as well. So, the implications of sex education in school can be dual in nature."
But what is most interesting is about her take on the implication of sex education at home.
She says, "Parents often shelf the issue, blind the closet hoping that the kids themselves will educate themselves at some point in time. However, if I may say so, sexploitation starts at home. And nobody will bring it out in the open because of the relative's involvement. And in this case, by the time the child comes to school, he/she has already experienced levels of child abuse. So it is extremely necessary for parents to education their kids about sex, so that a child can speak out!"
