If country singer June Carter hadn't experienced all that angst, borne of forbidden love, we would have never heard these immortal lyrics from the hit love song, Ring Of Fire.

June penned these lines whilst taking a break from her tours with the much-married country legend Johnny Cash and his band. A messy whirlpool of unresolved emotions and eventualities in matters of the heart proved inspirational for her.

Despite Johnny's larger-than-life star status, June managed to hold her own in the relationship. And, eventually, was Johnny's princess in shining armour, rescuing him from the murky throes of his drugs-sex-and-rock-n-roll lifestyle.

They were married 34 years and continued to make music until she passed away in 2003, with Johnny following a couple of months later.
