But there is one dark cloud that looms large in their picture perfect life. Though they stay under the same roof, they barely get to meet each other.
Why? Somesh works for an international BPO where he has to deal with US clients. So he ends up working through the night.
Annapurna gets her pay packet from a financial services company whose clients are UK based. So she ends up working a better part of the day and late into the night as well.
As a result, they either meet each other at the front door of their flat heading in opposite directions or find the other in deep slumber.
This situation is true for most married couples working in BPO or knowledge based industries. With weekly offs on separate days as well, for others like Annapurna and Somesh, marriage is a weekend affair.
Dealing with Weekend Marriages
"It is mainly a question of taking the effort to make time for each other. It may be during the weekend or during week days," opines Dr. Dayal Mirchandani, Mumbai based psychiatrist and hypnotherapist.
According to him, such couples should take time out to talk to each other over the phone or come home early to spend some time with their spouse before he or she heads for the door.
Sonali Gupta, a clinical psychologist at Mumbai's Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), gives some helpful advice to keep the relation running smoothly.
