This is true in every aspect of life. You can have sex at any given age but what is important is whether you want to have it or not.
Did you know that once you reach the age of 40, you can start losing your sexual desire? We tell you how you can cope with it and make sex more desirable…
Reasons for Low Libido
Libido just means sexual desire. Dr. Reshma Rafi, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician from Saifee Hospital explains, "Once you are in your menopausal age or are heading for perimenopause, there are many hormonal changes that take place in your body."

The oestrogen production of your body decreases and this leads to a low sexual desire and lack of interest in sex.
Apart from that, in this age, the lubrication of your vagina also goes down because of the hormonal changes and as a result you may find sex less pleasurable.

Your vaginal passage may widen because of child birth and age. This again contributes, to some extent, to make sex a less pleasurable experience.
Also, if you are undergoing treatments for cancer or have had surgery like ovary removal or a hysterectomy, it also brings down the oestrogen production and can lower your libido.

Also, when you reach the age of 40, there are chances that the medication you are undergoing for blood pressure or diabetes may be reducing the hormonal levels of your body and this can also contribute to low libido.
