Medicated or scented douches can cause irritation in vaginal region and can cause lubrication failure.
"Regular douching also kills the natural bacteria in your vagina, making you more prone to infections as well," informs Dr. Kiran Coelho, Consulting Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, Lilavati Hospital.
Resuming Sex
Do not douche before having sex. And avoid regular douching as well.
5. Vaginal Herpes
Herpes is a painful version of a skin breakout and can erupt in the genital area. It is a fluid filled lesion that can cause pain, itching and a burning sensation in the infected area.
Apart from that, it is contagious, so it can spread to your partner as well and if not treated completely, it can recur.
Resuming Sex
If you have herpes refrain from indulging in oral sex. In fact avoid sexual intercourse until you are cured completely.
If you have herpes lesions recurring at regular intervals, then you may require lifelong treatment. In such a scenario, make sure you use condoms.
6. Vaginismus
Vaginismus happens when the muscles around the vagina tighten involuntarily, causing penetration impossible and painful.
Mentally conditioning yourself about intercourse being painful can reinforce the fear in you when you attempt to have sexual intercourse. This in turn can cause an involuntary contraction of vagina. Recurring vaginismus is caused due to early conditioning, a history of unsatisfying intercourse or sexual abuse.
