Or, are you worried that there could be health issues due to abstinence to intercourse?
We ask our health experts about this issue…
Eminent Psychiatrst, Dr. Nirmala Rao says, "In the recent times, sex has become one of the primary needs of man apart from, food, clothing and shelter. However, with so much work pressure and double income families, sex is taking the backseat among cosmopolitan couples."
A healthy sex life can enhance ones relationship as well the outlook toward living. However, when couples return from work, tired and bogged down, it is difficult to indulge in sex.
Myths Dispelled
According to Dr. Dhanu, there is no way your vagina could decrease in size due to lack of sex. This is because there will continue to be lubrication with or without sex, which will keep the vagina in it's normal size.
Also remember, the vagina can accommodate the passage of a baby during birth. So, there is no way the size will matter.
Abstinence By Choice?
Many women are opting to be single these days. But, is it true that if you opt to remain single, you will not crave for sex? This could be whether you have had an earlier encounter with foreplay, sex or nothing at all.
According to Dr. Rao, if you don't indulge in any physical connection with a man for any reason, you could develop negative feelings for men in general.
For example, you might not want to attract the attention of a man, and hence dress in a certain way. Or, you could find any man looking at you, a pervert.
Or, you might create an exterior that could make others feel like you don't need a man to be happy, whereas you might be miserable inside.
Abstinence Due to Aversion?
According to Dr. Rao, women who prefer to remain single are those who have mental aversions toward sex.
Typically, you would be a high performer at your work place. The mental block toward sex is primarily because you don't want to feel vulnerable in a physical relationship.
Also, the idea of having children and "settling down" in married life is not your cup of tea.
"But," says Dr. Rao, "if the mind is busy with other things, the body does not show that much craving for the physical aspects like foreplay or sex."
