1. If anyone you know has been diagnosed with HIV, it does not mean that it is the end of life. Anti-retroviral drugs are available now, which are partially effective in controlling the disease. They will be able to lead a normal life even with the disease.
2. In case an HIV positive person is finding it tough to accept the condition, there are specific free HIV counseling sessions organized by NGOs and hospitals. They can consult with leading city hospitals or even their general physician to find out details.

3. HIV positive people need to get their immunisation shots regularly to avoid infections like pneumonia. Their doctor will administer the shots and the frequency.
4. Taking high doses of medications will not cure AIDS. Self-alterations to medications based on unauthorized recommendations is a complete no-no. Medications prescribed by an authorized physician must be taken in the prescribed amount only.
5. An HIV positive woman will have to perform a PAP test at least once a year. This is because the HPV virus may infect their cervical cells.
