Here are some of the top things you need when you become a new mom. Happy shopping!
1. Be Prepared
You will have some vaginal bleeding immediately after your delivery. This is basically the uterine lining and tissues associated with pregnancy that are being removed from your system.
Remember, the bleeding might be heavy, so keep a stock of sanitary napkins at home. Also, you need to make sure the pads are for heavy bleeding. You tend to bleed more during the night.
Also, get a new set of panties. It will come in handy while trying to catch up on laundry.
2. Nighty Night
For all those nights when you have to wake up to the hungry cries of your little one, a maternity nightgown is a must. Remember, buy comfortable ones with a simple front opening.
3. While Breastfeeding…
Nursing bras are a necessity, especially if you are travelling with your baby. These are the bras that either have hooks in the front, or have cups that are like "flaps", which can be opened when you have to nurse your baby.
Most major brands like Mothercare have these bras. Find one that is a good fit, because it is possible that the size of your breasts will change.
4. Clothe Yourself
You probably have gained quite a lot of weight during your pregnancy and it is possible that your old tops and jeans may not fit anymore.
Buy tops that fit well but look a little loose around the midriff, so it covers that post pregnancy flab. Also, it helps to buy tops with a low neckline. This will look sexy and also help you if you want to breastfeed your little one at a social function.
5. Panties
Remember, you are not the size you were before you pregnancy. When going shopping for panties, make sure you get comfy ones that support the midriff. Also make sure you get the fit right; it should not be too loose or too tight.
6. Beat the Extras
You deserve this! Get yourself an abs exerciser or a runner that will help you get rid of the post pregnancy flab. If space does not allow you this treat, then make sure you get yourself a membership to the closest gym.
7. Get Help
Sometimes, advice works best when it is in the form of a book. Go to your nearest book store and find a book on new moms. You will understand how moms all over the world deal with any baby situation.
You could also get yourself a journal, where you can add different milestones that your child goes through, like her first smile, first tooth, first step, etc. You can also paste her baby picture or make a collage of your family photos.
8. Comfy Footwear
If you are used to wearing stilettos, then get ready to keep them aside for a while. Holding a baby in your arms and balancing on high heels may not be a very good idea for your feet.
Buy comfortable slippers for home and flat heeled sandals for occasions.
