It is said that your baby can hear you from the womb, and thus can be educated even before she is born. Is it really true? We ask doctors for some answers.
What Is Garbha Sanskar?
The Sanskrit word Garbha means foetus and Sanskar means educating or informing a mind.
Dr. Ulka Natu, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician from Nest Hospital explains, "Garbha Sanskar is training of the foetus right from the time she is in your uterus. Garbha Sanskar believes that whatever you think triggers the release of hormones in your body which have an impact on your baby."
Garbha Sanskar is a type of training that helps you to cope with your emotions while you are pregnant and possibly has a positive effect on your baby.
Garbha Sanskar uses techniques like positive thinking and visualisation to send positive vibrations and energy to your baby.
You may also be taught different techniques of acoustic stimulation to enhance the brain function of your baby and also to initiate the parent-child bonding right from the time the baby is in your womb.
Does It Really Work?
Dr. Ashwini Bhalerao Gandhi, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician from PD Hinduja Hospital says, "I have heard about Garbha Sanskar. It is true that mother's health does affect the baby. Also, babies are susceptible to stress and any kind of stress can lead to pregnancy complications like premature delivery, intrauterine pregnancy and miscarriages. We have no scientific surveys to back it up but I have patients who are following it and claim to have benefited."
