But ever since you got pregnant, you fear your baby might come out to see a bald mama!
Relax! Hormonal changes lead to various physical changes during pregnancy. Excessive hair loss or in some cases excessive hair growth is just one of them.
Postnatal Hair Loss
According to Cosmetologist Dr. Nishita Sheth, "Pregnancy-related hair loss usually occurs after delivery."
During pregnancy, normal hair loss reduces (resting phase) and your hair feels lustrous and thick.
After delivery along with normal hair loss, you will also lose all the hair that was in the resting phase. So, it will seem like there is excessive hair fall.
The rate of hair fall usually returns to normal within three-four months after delivery.
Hair Fall During Pregnancy
Excessive hair loss during pregnancy is usually due to a vitamin or mineral deficiency. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. These are rich in flavonoids and antioxidants that help protect hair follicles and encourage hair growth.
Make sure that you are getting your essential vitamins such as vitamins B, C and E as well as zinc.
Consult your gynaecologist on appropriate vitamin supplements and take these regularly.
