Shades of Love
Naturally, love is in the air so let it reflect in the decorations at your venue too!
Red is the colour of love, so make the most of it. You can have an all red theme or use it combination with a lighter colour.
Fuchsia pink is ideal for a young couple. It is bright and bubbly and fills the environment with excitement.
Use these colours in combination with each other and or in their respective varying shades.
Red goes really well with white, but if you feel it is too Christmassy, then go for gold. Pink also goes well with white. Alternatively, you can use it with silver too.
Comfort Zone
Your theme demands for comfort setting, not only for yourself but also for your guests. Arrange for heart shaped couches with rose petal shaped cushions and make sure they match the theme colour theme.
If flowers are a part of your decoration, which they must be, go for red, pink and white roses - either all of one colour or in combination of all he three colours.
Hang thermocol cupids and hearts around the venue and decorate the ceiling with silver stars.
In keeping with the theme, the host or hostess for the evening should also be dressed in colours to match the theme. Ideally, red, pink or white. The attendants can dress as cupid - bow and arrows are a must - to add to the entertainment factor!
Set the mood for the evening - let the bride make a grand entry on a huge red heart suspended from a crane.
Ambrosia for the Heart
Welcome your guests with a red rose, chocolates and red wine. A great way to begin an evening of love and romance.
Add a touch of romance to the menu as well. Include foods such as oysters, caviar and asparagus, which are known to be aphrodisiacs. Don't forget to order a chocolate fountain! Everyone, including you the bridal couple, can indulge in some chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows.
Love Notes
A Valentine's Day wedding is incomplete without some love songs to keep the mood going. Do away with the DJ and hire a wedding singer to sing only romantic songs! To involve your guests, ask him to take song requests from them.
You can add an element to this part. Ask people to perform their favourite love song and dedicate it to their partner. Alternatively, have a karaoke in the house!
Song is incomplete without dance. Bring in a contemporary dance troupe and ask them to perform on some evergreen love songs.
Take Me Home
A love-filled thank you gift is a great way to make your wedding memorable for your guests.
This could be something as simple as a pot pourri or a box of heart-shaped chocolates in a heart-shaped box tied with a red ribbon.
If you have the budget, go for a heart-shaped silver photo frame or an expensive set of scented candles. For a more personalised gift, burn a CD of your favourite love songs!
A Valentine's Day theme wedding is a great way to celebrate your love and say "I Do." So, what you waiting for? Just do it!
