Designer Abhishek Dutta has always been enamoured by the spirit of womanhood. Like a true-blue Bengali, Abhishek also believes in the powerful imagery of Goddess Durga. "I believe in the immense inner power a woman possesses. In my collection, I have tried to take a peek into a woman's mind, her multi-facetted personality and her zest for life," says Abhishek.
After earning his degree in fashion technology from the Wigan and Leigh College, Kolkata, Abhishek's creations have adorned the sculpted bodies of Femina Miss India 2001 contestants.
On Abhishek's collection
Keeping the contradictory and complex woman in mind, this collection is full of contrasts and paradoxes.
"There are structured clothes in the collection, but I have also used a lot of oversized prints. The silhouettes are classy and refined, just like a modern Indian woman wants to be," he says.
The fabrics are embellished with intricate leather detailing, hand embroidery and rubber prints.
The colour palette is a mixture of greens and browns with some basal hues of canary yellow and pink.
Colourful creativity
Raima Sen looks beautiful in a lovely bold multi-coloured sari with bright colours and a contrast in prints. The embossed diamond prints on the sari only add to the contrasts of the ensemble.
