Jewellery designers strive to achieve that luxuriant, cherished feel in the shape, design and feel of their exquisite pieces.
This Women's Day, we spoke to designers and asked them to pick their choice of jewels. Something that holds the ultimate splurge and pamper value for them.
Poonam Soni
One of the first jewellery designers in India to launch her own brand in 1997, Poonam's inspirations are the rich Indian history and tradition. Her first line was based on the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. Poonam's creations have adorned the ears, neck and hands of glitterati around the country.
Poonam's splurge:
I love this red piece from my Monochrome Collection. It has a red miniature painting by artist Laxman Shreshtha, which is a rare collector's item. It is surrounded with rubies, which makes it eye-catching.
This piece was got listed internationally as a world trend in the fashion bible, Trends for Jewellery Forecast 2009 (Italy).

This piece marks another first. It was the first time art was been introduced to jewellery in India.
The piece was auctioned internationally on February 27, 2008.
