Packing everything will take days, and you want everything to be done neatly and look fancy because your in-laws will see everything that's in your bags.
But even though you use the most beautiful packaging materials, your expensive clothes can get ruined. So here's what you should not do while packing your trousseau!

If you are meticulous enough, you might go out and buy colourful paper to wrap each outfit in individually.
But imagine this, you reach your new home, it's late in the night, you open your bag and search for your nightdress. But since all your clothes are individually wrapped in pink wrapping, you can't see which pack your night-dress is in.
To avoid this problem, if you are wrapping your clothes individually, make sure you wrap them in transparent cellophane sheets. This way you can find what you need in a minute.
Think that cellophane will be too plain and boring? Well you alos get them with pretty designs on them at your local stationary or gift store.
But what if you have already invested in rolls of coloured paper? Don't fret. You can still use it in the following ways:
- You could label each pack as either "Formal Blue Saree", "Pink Full Sleeved T-Shirt" etc, describing what each pack contains.
- You could also colour code your clothes. For example, use pink paper for your salwar suits, yellow paper for your sarees, blue paper for your jeans and red paper for tops. Now it may not make finding a particular saree very easy, but it will at least narrow down your search.
Flowers for Smell?
You buy fresh roses and scatter them over your clothes because you think it will give a nice touch. But when you close that stuffed bag, the rose petals get squashed. Also you never know when you will open the bag again; it may take days or even weeks before you need something from there.
So in the meantime, the petals will rot and smell bad. Also if you have kept them directly on your outfits without any cellophane below, you clothes will surely get stained.
Glitterati Mess
Sprinkling a little glitter inside each package will no doubt make it look attractive, but do you think you will be able to get it off? It is quite difficult. Apart from that, your room will become a shiny paradise with the glitter flying off the clothes and sticking on everything in the room.
Confetti
Another common thing you would put in your trousseau bags is confetti (tiny coloured thermocol balls). They add colour, are easily available and cheap. But they will also stain your clothes and may ruin your entire trousseau so keep them.
Breakable Objects
You safely store all your perfume and other breakable objects in between all your clothes so that they don't break. But when you unpack near your in-laws, it will be embarrassing if something just drops out. So pack all your breakable items in one bag. And make sure you put in a lot of bubble paper for support.
