Amrish Kumar, son of the fashion diva Ritu Kumar, has joined his creative prowess with momma Ritu and is set to unveil the much-awaited Fall-Winter collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, 2008 next month.
He brings along with him a contemporary and international form to match Ritu's intricate Indian textile craft and design traditions.

So, what's it like working with the Grand Lady of Indian Fashion?
"It's a mixed bag," says son of ace designer Ritu Kumar, Amrish Kumar. "There is a fair share of conflicts and misunderstandings because you are, after all, working with a loved one, and in this case, the relationship cannot get any closer than this."
So then, how does the mother-son team work so well? "Well, on the other hand, there is a lot of sync as well. A similar way of thinking. My mother and I share a lot of similar ideas on fashion aesthetics."
Last time, the browns, greens, tie n dye, use of indigo dye on denims, Indian art imprints and more were hightlights of Ritu Kumar's collection. What can we look forward to this time?
"This time, more emphasis has been put on the abstractness of the collection. We have focused on the nature of the drapes. Also, we are deconstructing - using fabrics that can take its own shape," he reveals.
"Apart from that, you can also expect to find a lot of prints - especially large prints. As for colours, a whole lot of indigos and greys," he continues. Very exciting, we say!
To wrap up, we ask Amrish 'what is the colour of the Valentine season'? "Wow! Well, my favourite is white and I think it is the ideal colour for the month of love." Why? "Well, white the most versatile colour; it is gentle and yet gives an impact," he smiles. (Sounded like the very definition of love itself, didn't it?)
And speaking of fashion families, is this the start of the Ritu Kumar fashion dynasty? We'll give you more as the Fashion Week draws closer.
