Wrapped in Tiles
The first and most important thing to do is to tile the floors and walls of the bathroom. Opt for ceramic anti-skid tiles for the entire bathroom from brands like Kajaria, Nitco or even Johnson. They would cost you about Rs.35 per sq. ft. depending on what you choose.
So the tiling of the entire bathroom should not cost you more than Rs.10,000.
You could also buy a couple of motif tiles to intersperse between the regular wall tiles. They cost about Rs.25 for an 8-inch by 8-inch tile. You need just about 20 of these tiles as too many will crowd the bathroom.
Wired Simple
Plan the wiring, plug points and lights before the tiling is done so that you can conceal it all. You require a plug point for the geyser and another for next to the mirror for your hair dryer etc. You might also want to include one for the exhaust fan.
You will need one main light for the bathroom and one especially above the mirror. You could choose either yellow light or white light.
All this will cost approximately Rs.1000, which includes labour charges for fitting in the plug points and lights.
Posh Sanitaryware
When it comes to sanitaryware, pick from brands like Hindware or Parryware. They are slightly more expensive than brands like Hindustan, Classica and Soncera. You could land up paying about Rs.800 to Rs.1000 for a washbasin and another Rs.3000 for a wall-hung water closet (WC).
So your total expense on sanitaryware would be about Rs.4000.
Include a cabinet below the washbasin for storage. You can have it made from marine ply, which is very durable considering the constant water contact in the bathroom. You can have it painted to match the rest of your bathroom. A simple cabinet would cost you about Rs.1000.
You can also include a couple of glass shelves around the bathroom to display those shower gels, shampoos and the works.
