Pad the Floor
It's your little fellow we are talking about. Somersaults, cartwheels and a hundred and one tricks up his sleeve. So keep the room soft and safe with vinyl flooring. You can try vinyl in interesting colours and prints too or you could even go with the wooden effect.
You can get vinyl flooring for about Rs.60 per sq. ft. from companies like Marshalls and Square Foot. But if you buy it from a local store you can expect to pay about Rs.40 to Rs.50 per sq. ft. So you will land up paying approximately Rs.8500 for the entire flooring.
A World of Fun
Doing up the walls is probably the most exciting part of the kiddie room. You could go with regular paint for three walls of the room and one themed wall.
You can check out interesting theme wall ideas here. From funky kiddie wallpapers to a Disney theme, you can take your pick.
Expect to pay about Rs.3000 to paint three walls of the room with good quality emulsion paint from companies like Asian Paints or Nerolac. The theme wall would cost you about Rs.4000 depending on what you choose. Try not to go above this budget.
Keep It Bright
No fancy light fixtures in the kid's room. Go with simple fluorescent tube lights above the desk area and above the bed. They shouldn't cost you more than Rs.200.
You could have a couple of hanging cloth or paper lampshades in two corners of the room. You could buy these from handloom exhibitions or stores like Fab India. They would cost you about Rs.300 each.
Don't forget to include a bedside lamp. You could pick one up from Lifestyle, Home Stop, Archies or even a local store.
