Keep It Cosy
Keep the master bedroom warm and cosy with wooden laminate flooring. If you get plenty of natural light in your bedroom, then go in for a darker coloured laminate.
Try brands like Wiparquet and Square Foot, which have good quality laminate and a wide range of colours to choose from.
You could experiment with another flooring option too but, make sure to stay within the price range of Rs.60 to Rs.80 per sq. ft.
Laminate flooring for the bedroom should cost you Rs.11,000 to Rs.13,500.
Topped Up
Be sure to deal with all the electrical work before you start the renovation. You won't have to bother with the added expense of a false ceiling, if you have concealed wiring.
Lighting is very important in the bedroom. You will need a minimum of three wall fixtures of approximately the same size.
Fix one on the wall behind your bed and the other two on the walls beside the bed. You can expect to spend about Rs.1500 for all three fixtures.
Get yourself a 4 ft. high lampshade by your bedside. If you find that too imposing, try a table lamp.
Visit local lighting stores for interesting patterns and good deals. A good quality lamp could range anywhere from Rs.1000 to Rs.2000.
Alive with Colour
Just like the living room, opt for a good quality emulsion paint from Asian Paints, Nerolac or Dulux. It will cost you approximately Rs.300 per litre and you will need about 5 litres of paint. The total painting cost, including labour charges is usually around Rs.3000.
If you find your bedroom too stark, add charm with interesting wallpaper on just one wall. Floral wallpaper or one with a cloudy effect will create a snug look for your room. The wallpaper should cost you approximately Rs.4000 for one of the wide walls.
