The apprehension is normal. But a little bit of prior knowledge will go a long way in easing your first time jitters.
Remember! Do not postpone the visit. The sooner you get over with it the better and it is less unpleasant than you think it is.
Your First Visit
The best time to make your first visit is when you reach puberty. This is the time when your body undergoes changes and the check-up will not only help clear all your doubts but also pinpoint any underlying problems.
What Happens on the First Visit?
A gynaec is aware of your apprehensions and doubts. However, share it with your gynaec so that she can adapt better to you and your needs.
The gynaec will begin with asking you questions like when you started menstruating, when was your last cycle, was their any pain or discomfort, is there any current health problem, etc.
After the initial talk, the physical examination begins. A physical check-up is however not a pre-requisite if the Q & A session suggests nothing wrong or acute.
