Firstly, you will have to pull up your skirt and slip off the panty. Then either mount on the gynaecological chair if there is any or you will be asked to lie down on a side bed. The legs should be spread comfortably. This is to aid your gynaec in examining properly.
The check-up does not take more than five to ten minutes and contrary to popular perception is painless.

The gynaecologist will conduct the following examinations:
1. The gynaecologist will wear gloves and then insert a finger into the vagina to examine the uterus and ovaries. Simultaneously she will also examine your stomach by pressing certain points externally. Throughout the examination you will be asked if you are feeling any pain or discomfort.
2. Next, the gynaecologist will examine your breasts. This is done to eliminate any signs of cancer. She will feel certain points on your chest and the shoulder for knot like changes. For this you will be asked to remove your top. If you feel uncomfortable with the idea, you can also do a breast self-examination.
3. This is followed with an ultrasonoscope wherein you can see the organs on a screen. Through this the gynaecologist can ascertain the health of your reproductive organs.
Preparing for the Examination
Before going to the examination remember to clean yourself. However, do not douche. Wear loose clothing. It is preferable to wear a wide skirt and a shirt or a long t-shirt. Bring along your cycle calendar.
