- Absence

If you do not know the whereabouts of your husband for a period of four years, then you can file for divorce. However, the petition for divorce will be terminated in case he appears in person or through an authorised agent and starts to perform his marital obligations within six months of filing the petition.
- Neglect
If your husband has neglected you or failed to provide the maintenance for a period of two years, you can file for divorce.
- Imprisonment
This holds true if, the husband has been sentenced to imprisonment for a period of seven years or more.
- Marital Obligations
In case your husband has failed to perform his marital obligations, without any reasonable, cause for a period of three years or more, you can file for a divorce.
- Impotency
If the husband was impotent at the time of marriage and continues to be so, it is a ground for divorce.
- Insanity / Venereal Disease
This applies when the husband has been insane for a period of two years or is suffering from leprosy or any venereal disease.
- Child Marriage
If you were married off by your father or other legal guardian before you the age of 15 and you rejected the marriage before the age of 18, then you can ask for a divorce. This doesn't apply if the marriage was consummated.
- Cruelty
If your husband ill-treats you, through physical or mental torture by:
- Associating himself with women of ill repute.
- Attempting to force you to lead an immoral life.
- Disposing off your property without your knowledge and preventing you from exercising your legal rights.
- Preventing you from observing a religious profession or practice.
- Treating you differently (not in accordance with the Quran), in comparison with his other wives.
This also includes any other grounds of cruelty under the Muslim Law.
