How many times have you wondered when will your precious darling finally move to her own bed?
How do you help your young child cross this first milestone of independence?
The Age Factor

Usually describe the age between two and a half to three years, as an appropriate time for sleeping independently, because:
- By this age your child has begun recognising her individuality from yours.
- Toilet training is usually established by three years.
- The age of active imagination has not yet set in. This means she isn't going to pester you every half hour with tales of monsters below her bed.
- Since she may have started going to play school, chances are she is now receptive to new ways of doing things at home and outside.
However, you must definitely consider the unique temperament and needs of your child. Does she happily embrace change, or does she tread with caution? Is she a self-reliant little girl, revelling in "doing things by herself" or does she prefer you to step in and help?
