Friends Turned Lovers
I have known my husband for 10 years and we have been married for the last 6 years. I met him through a common friend at a party!
It was definitely not love at first sight for me but there was a lot of friendship that eventually grew to love. I did not marry young.
Personally, I think he could have waited a couple of years to get married but then again he does come from an unconventional family.
His dad - they are Punjabi - married a Catholic and this was more than 30 years ago. If there were any eyebrows raised, it was at my place. My parents were like, 'Are you taking the right decision girl?'
What Mum's Want
After a while, any relationship does ask for more than just love.
For us, becoming parents was the best thing that happened to the relationship because my daughter brought us so much joy.
And since she came, I have time for everything! I spend time with her - go swimming, play and take her to her parties. I even spend time with my husband and cook for him too!
I will be honest and say that I am not a supermom on my own; I will not take that credit selfishly. I have a great support staff!
A full time nanny for my 4-year-old daughter makes things a lot easier to manage. Moreover, she's well trained - even in first aid to handle small medical emergencies.
My parent and in-laws live a hop, skip and jump away. My daughter is never home alone when I am travelling. I travel frequently for work but I always make sure to be at home on Sunday. It is our family day.
I often get clients who tell me that they are free only on a Sunday but even then I never take on work.
