Cut! ...and she's back in her jeans and t-shirt.
Right now, she is the most popular soap opera bride. Sangeeta Ghosh tells IndiWo how being a bride on television is different from reality.
"Being a bride on television is boring!"
I have become a bride in almost all the serials that I have worked in, so for me the whole experience is very tiring and boring.
The first time I became a bride on television was for 'Mehendi Tere Naam Ki'. Since it was something different, I was very excited and I enjoyed the experience.
But as time passed, I have lost interest in dressing up like a bride
You are shooting the whole day dressed in heavy outfits and make-up, with lights and so many people watching you. Sometimes I think, I will get married in a t-shirt and jeans!
"Shopping for the outfits is fun."
The bridal outfits worn by us in serials are not always custom made for the serials. Sometimes we shop at different stores for actual bridal outfits.
I remember while shooting for the serial 'Rabba Ishq Na Hove', I went to Seasons and shopped for my bridal outfit for the serial.
"Everything has to look good on TV."
The ensemble you wear on television needs to be heavily embroidered in order to look good on screen. In reality also, many people wear heavy bridal outfits, but shooting in these outfits is very difficult.
The colours too have to be very bright. Magenta and red are some of the colours that look good on screen.
The make-up also needs to heavy and look very attractive. In reality we can wear the make-up we want, and I in particular would want to do my own make-up.
"Shooting in bridal wear is never stress free."
The bridal outfits that we wear are heavy and walking in them is very tiring. Unlike a wedding, shooting doesn't get over in a day.
The same scene could be stretched to many episodes. So sometimes if we shoot for one day, the wedding scene can be stretched to 10-15 days.
By the end of the shoot my shoulders begin to acne and I feel completely stressed out.
