The theme: Mode in India, a nod towards India making its mark in the world of fashion.
The designers will design their collections in collaboration with Wills Lifestyle. The ensembles will be retailed at Wills Lifestyle stores across the country.
Anamika Khanna's take: Her collection has 'high fashion' stamped all over it. Sharp, edgy, with clean lines, her Mode in India is steeped in everything intrinsically 'India', in textures and crafts. Yet, it will have a modern, contemporary structure, and will be "full of surprises".
The collection: Clean and uncluttered dresses, skirts, coats and jackets.
The colour palette: Dark and darker, with blacks, blue-blacks, patina black and charcoal. Blacked out white mingles with blacked out brights, stripped of their intensity.
The fabrics: Satin, jacquards, silks, sandwiched textured cottons, organza and georgette.
Look out for: Textures and quirky graphic prints alternating with extreme metallics in pewter.
And more: One of the best known ‘untrained’ designers, Anamika Khanna was discovered when she won the Damania Fashion Award. Her mainstay is ethnic Indian craft and her trousseau lines are renowned.
Yet, Anamika embodies conformist in a non-conformist way.
