Sweden: Fashion houses Chanel and Gucci have sued a 15-year-old boy in Sweden for alleged trademark infringement after customs agents seized scores of bootleg sunglasses sent to him from China.
In separate lawsuits filed at a court in Goteborg, western Sweden, the companies demanded that the teenager pay for the destruction of the 113 pairs of sunglasses, which carried Chanel and Gucci logos.
They also want him to cover their legal costs in the case. "Generally you don't want to sue someone who's just 15 years old ... but we don't want these products to reach the market," Bengt Eliasson, a lawyer representing Chanel in the case, told The Associated Press on Monday.
The sunglasses were shipped in packages that were seized by customs agents in June.
The boy told free daily newspaper Metro that he didn't know who sent him the sunglasses or why.
Gucci's legal representative in Sweden was not immediately available for comment.
