Mumbai: Tao Art Gallery presented Imprints, an India Japan art show, which opened at TAO Art Gallery, Worli, on August 8, 2007 and will be on till August 20. The exhibition showcased works of eminent contemporary Indian artists.

The exhibition in collaboration with IIFA (Indian Institute of Fine Arts) was first opened at the Royal Museum, Tokyo and showcases exclusive works of 56 eminent artists like M F Husain, S H Raza, Krishen Khanna, Akbar Padamsee, Ram Kumar, Bal Chhabda, Madhvi and Manu Parekh, Sujata Bajaj, Vijay Shinde and Justin Ponmany.
'Imprints' offers perspective on contemporary visual practices in post independence India, presenting works that speak in a rich array of materials and idioms, drawing upon artworks from major public and private collections and featuring illuminating juxtapositions of urban fine art and popular culture imagery.
The exhibition provides unique opportunities to explore cross-cultural influences in the works of these artists. The exhibition also includes several collaborative and site-specific works that address contemporary political, social, and environmental realities in India today.
The year 2007 also commemorates India-Japan Friendship Year and Japan has extended its gesture by sharing India's culture amongst their art fraternity through this India Japan art show.
