Debjani Dutta, an artist from Kolkata has recently unveiled her collection of Katthak paintings.
Debjani was inspired to do these paintings while watching rehearsals of the play written by Tagore- Khudito Paysan. She was inspired by the graceful Katthak dance performances.

Other paintings in past that she has done on women and children are from her real experience. She used to work as a counselor for battered women and has also spread awareness amongst villages for family planning.
Her earlier shows were on women, women and children, abstracts, figurative and landscapes, but for the first time she has done paintings on one of our old and cultural form of dance - Katthak.
She has also learnt the art of painting using natural, vibrant colours made from natural things like Haldi for yellow colour and small pink flowers for pink colour.
The exhibition of her paintings at Art Desh art gallery located at Film Centre Bldg, Tardeo, Mumbai is on from 1st November '07 till 10th November '07.
