Urmi Sahni, Mumbai: It’s not Indians but also the international film fraternity at the Cannes Film Festival that will be celebrate the 60th year of Indian Independence.
As a part of this, a few Indian films will be screened at the festival over a period of two days. One of them is titled Missed Call. When we were trying to make a film, it drove us to the story of the guy who is trying to make a film.
It was the easiest thing to do," says director Mridul Toolsidaas, Director While Missed Call was a film that almost all of us missed at the theatres, it’s made it to the big league.
"Thousand people must have watched it out of which 800 were our friends and relatives," jokes Toolsidaas.
Missed Call is amongst the chosen few along with other Indian biggies like Guru and Lage Raho Munna Bhai nominated under the category Tous Les Cinemas Du Monde or cinema of the world.
"It has managed to make it in spite of the biggies," says co-director Vinay Subramanian. Agrees Toolsidaas, "Very strangely this film has an entity of his own, as you can see the poster it says a film by Gaurav Sengupta, who is the character.
Even we didn't have anything to do with the film." For these two young minds who have been living and breathing their debut film. Cannes has come as a dream that they didn't even dare to dream.
"We haven't slept or eaten, but just going through the emotion. Can't really explain what this whole thing did to us," says Toolsidas.
